About Monticello Medical Associates

Monticello Medical Associates FQHC LAL – March 2021 - Present

Monticello Medical Associates began practicing in June 1975, with 2 providers Dr. JK Phillips and Dr. Gerald Pratt.  Within a short period of time in the late 70’s, Dr. Ronald McFarland and Dr. Bill Selvidge joined the practice in the Plaza shopping center.   Robert Parmelee has been the administrator since the beginning of the practice and currently serves as CEO.  In July 1989 the practice moved to South Creek Medical Center; which now houses Monticello Medical Associates, Monticello Physical Therapy, Lifeline Home Health, Wayne County Surgical Associates and Burgess Drugs.

The practice continued to grow and now has 5 physicians and 9 nurse practitioners and over 45 support staff.  In 1996 Monticello Medical Associates became a Rural Health Clinic and served the patients of Wayne County in this scope of service until becoming a Federal Qualified Health Center Look Alike in March 2021.  In January 2020 Monticello Medical Associates was named one of the Top Clinics in the US.  The Lilypad Awards, released by a Maine -based health care analytics firm ranked more than 4000 rural health clinics.  MMA was ranked in the top 5 of independently-owned rural health clinics (RHCs) in the Southeast.  It was the only RHC in Ky to earn this designation.

The practice also has achieved the status of Patient Centered Medical Home in December 2017 by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. A medical home is called a “Home” because we’d like this office to be the first place you think of for all your medical needs.  MMA provides health care to our community, including insured and uninsured.

Monticello Medical Associates participates in the 340B drug program as of October 2021. The federal 340B Drug Pricing Program allows qualifying clinics that treat low-income and uninsured patients to buy outpatient prescription drugs at a discount. The program is intended to help health care providers stretch their financial resources to reach more financially vulnerable patients and deliver comprehensive services.

MMA has recently received two badges from Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in 2022: Advancing HIT for Quality and Covid-19 public health champion.

We offer routine medical care, onsite laboratory services, x-rays, osteoporosis screenings, CDL’s, well child and adult physicals and vaccines (participant in Vaccines for Children (VFC) program), pre-employment physicals, sports physicals, covid vaccines, covid tests and covid treatment, flu tests and flu vaccines.

Referral to associate providers for dental, mental health, behavioral health, OB/GYN, and transportation services.

Moving forward, MMA will be offering more services to our patients including a Mobile Medical Clinic coming in 2023.
